Surge is an advanced wood composite core flooring that promises 100-hour protection from surface moisture so you can install it anywhere you like.
Its advanced core design and innovative joint design deliver waterproof performance in an elegant, realistic wood-look flooring, and the AC5 wear layer means super-durability, with excellent scratch and stain resistance.
*100+ Hour Waterproof Protection
30 year residential 5 year commercial warranty
Wear rated for heavy duty residential & commercial use
Superior Stain & Abrasion Resistance
Contains up to 90% wood fiber
The North American Laminate Flooring Association defines ‘waterproof’ to mean that after 24 hrs of exposure to standing water, there is no damage to the floor.
Evoke Surge sets a new standard. Our floors have been tested to withstand repeated exposure to standing moisture for over 100 hours with no damage to the floor.
Innovative Design & Advanced Technology
First, the Surge core: it’s composed of up to 90% natural wood fiber from sustainably managed forests.
The wood fibers are custom-shaped and coated with organic binding resin, so they won’t absorb moisture.
Second, the Surge joint: it’s a new generation ‘drop and lock’ click together joint design that creates a water-tight seal, preventing moisture from penetrating into the floor.
In January 2019 the North American Laminate Flooring Association (NALFA) established a formal test to measure the effect of standing water on laminate flooring, and create a standard benchmark for NAFLA member use. This standard was designed to provide consumers with confidence that a product labelled ‘waterproof’ met the NAFLA requirements.
The NALFA test requires a single board of flooring to be cut in three pieces and assembled to create a three-way joint. A PVC ring is placed over the joint and affixed to the flooring surface with a bead of sealant. Then, a measured quantity of water is poured into the ring and allowed to sit on the flooring surface, on the joint area, for 24 hours.
After 24 hours, the water is removed, and the flooring is immediately examined in two ways: a visual and manual inspection of the joint area to detect any damage or delamination of the product, and a mechanical measurement of any detectable swelling in the product, using a specialised device.
These findings are recorded and determine whether the product passed or failed the test. (In the NALFA test the product is examined a second time, 24 hours after the water was removed to see if the flooring had ‘recovered’ from any damage as the affected area dried out.)
The 100 Hour Test follows a method very similar to the NALFA procedure but instead of a single 24 hour exposure, the sample is exposed to standing water for a period of 1 hour every day for 100 days. After every exposure, the sample is dried and subjected to the visual inspection and mechanical measurement processes described above.
24 hours after the final test period, the sample is given a final inspection and measurement, and the results of all the test readings are tabulated and summarized. If the final average value for swelling is less than 0.2mm, the product is deemed to have passed the 100 Hour Test.
Evoke’s Surge floors have been tested to both the NALFA 24 hour standard and the 100 Hour Test.
*24 hr surface water protection as stipulated by NALFA (North American Laminate Flooring Association) with additional 100 hr surface water protection.
